Easy Crochet Crossbody Bag Tutorial - Free Crochet Bag Pattern
I’m about to get started on this shrug. Reading through the pattern on the website, looking at the video and most, if not all, comments I am still confused. The rectangle is to be 32,5 wide by 42 inches long. But the width is that from your neck down, and the length is from arm to arm? 🤔 Where is the starting chain on the finished garment? I would be very grateful for some clarification 😅
Hi, how many chain for fountain, 1 size,
Hi there, you can find the pattern directions here: jewelsandjones.com/the-blanket-shrug-free-crochet-pattern/
Eureka!! This is it! Thank you!!
You're welcome! I'm glad the video tutorial was helpful. 😊
That’s really nice and simple
Thank you! 😊
The instructions and demonstration is so clear and easy!!
Thank you! I'm glad the tutorial was easy and clear to understand. 😊
this is amazing! i’m going to make some for my coworkers and friends for christmas :) thank you for the tutorial!
You’re welcome 😊 and that's such a great idea!
I love this that was so easy 😊thank you 😊😊
You’re welcome 😊
This is a revelation! The best moss stitch square tutorial ever....don't bother with the others! Thank you, I have finally mastered this stitch!!
Thank you! I'm so glad the tutorial was helpful and easy to understand. 😊
I made this for my daughter in a Throw size (about 40"x40") in a curry/beige/sand. She's got particular taste. But she has it in her living room over her linen couches ❤😂 now I'm making a natural color one in a baby size for her baby who is due in December 🎉
Oh wow! And congratulations! That's so exciting. 😊 I'm so glad she liked the blanket.
Making this today!! Thank you! I found a gorgeous 'mill end' bag of really chunky yarn that looks like marbled chocolate so this wil be perfect!!
Oh that's going to look so good!! Perfect for fall and winter. 😊
Love this blanket. Im having a bit of a crochet block so I'm hoping this blanket will help me get back into the groove. Thank you
Thank you! I think this project will help because it doesn't take to long and you're repeating two sections for the whole pattern. So it makes it easy in that sense, but it will also keep you engaged. In other words, I don't think you'll get bored. 😊 Also, if your interested, here is a post I wrote when you don't know what to crochet (might help with getting the crochet mojo back) : jewelsandjones.com/10-things-to-crochet-when-youre-bored/
Thank you for the new border ideas! Just finished a set of wash clothes for my daughters new apartment and thought they couod use a border! Now I can do 2 different borders yay!
You're welcome! I'm so glad you like the borders. They really add the perfect finishing touch to a crochet project. 😊
Started this two years ago and here I am again trying to finish the darn thing lol
Welcome back! You've got this! 😊 and I hope you enjoy making the blanket.
How many grams?
Hi there, each skein of yarn is 125 grams. So you will need 250 grams of yarn for this pattern. Here is the link to the pattern notes + directions: jewelsandjones.com/chunky-ribbed-mens-crochet-scarf-free-pattern/
I look forward to making this. I plan on reversing the patten to start with a double crochet foundation chain
Oh that's a great idea! I hope you enjoy making the baby blanket. 😊
Beautiful scarf thank you ❤🎉
You’re welcome 😊!
That is such a good way to personalize an otherwise bland piece of furniture!
Thanks Gregory! It's a fun way to use napkins (and you get to enjoy them for a long time).
Absolutely loved this
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the tutorial. 😊It's a a fun stitch combo to work up.
I just stumbled across this video and I'm learning to crochet! I don't have a size 8 hook, only a 7mm and 10mm, and don't know which one to use! I tried with the 7mm one but the stitches look and feel too tight but I don't know if 10mm will be too loose.
Hi there, I would recommend making a gauge swatch of the stitch that is used in the pattern. If the stitches are looking to tight with the 7mm hook, I would definitely use a different hook. You want your stitches to be nice and flowy for this pattern. I hope this helps! 😊
I made 2! Love the pattern. However it's much smaller than the picture depicts. 8-1/2" is not that large.
Oh wow, I'm so glad you enjoyed the pattern! 😊 To make it bigger, you can always add additional rounds.
Thank you very much! I am making this pattern for our new granddaughter Ridley. She is a week old and I’ve put off making one until now. The color is gorgeous and the stitches are very pretty and easy for a beginner like myself. God Bless.🙏🙏🙏
You're welcome and congratulations! I hope you enjoy making the pattern. 😊🙏
Love your directions
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy making the blanket. 😊
How many skeins for a queen?
Hi there, you can find all the pattern information and the multiple for the stitch used here (you can adjust it to a queen size): jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/ 😊
This would make a beautiful shawl/wrap! Very well explained! 💐
Thank you! 😊 I'm glad the tutorial was helpful.
Could i make a scarf for a man with this stitch ?
Hi there, absolutely! I think this stitch would work really well for a man's scarf.
Very lovely pattern! The fringe yarn, though, should probably start off with a piece 3"-3.5" long to make it easier to work with. I tried 2" & there's no way you can fit your fingers in to pull the yarn through. I was able to use a crochet hook to pull them through with a bit of difficulty, but, I recommend 3" at least. Thanks for sharing this! It's a very nice look! It's lovely with changing colors yarn, too! Gives it a bit of a tie-dye or hippie look. 😄
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed making the pattern. 😊 Thank you also for the suggestion on making the fringe.
I was following your written pattern on your site, and I just finished round 2 and came to check your video if i was doing it right. On here, you put your stitches on the back loop only, but it didn't say that on your written pattern on the site unless i comepletely missed it? Is it ok not do it on the back loop? Thank you!!
Hi there, yes, it's totally ok not to work it in the back loop. For this pattern, you can work it in both loops or just the back loop. It's a very textured stitch, so both ways work. Thank you for pointing that out as well, all go ahead and make a note of it for others. 😊
what kind of yarn do you use in video ??
Hi there, I used Hue + Me yarn from Lion Brand. Here is the link to the free pattern and the supplies you'll need: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/
Which corner should I start the border? Does it matter or no?
Hi there, thanks for your question. So it really doesn't matter what corner you start on when making a border. I always like starting on top because the stitches are easier to find, but you can easily work the side corner first as well. 😊
What fabic is this
Hi there, it's just a stitch that I thought looked like a stockinette stitch. Here's the stitch tutorial: jewelsandjones.com/easy-crochet-knit-stitch-tutorial/
Wow thanks this is awesome 😊
How many skeins?
Hi there, you can find the supply list here: jewelsandjones.com/simple-textured-crochet-blanket-free-pattern/ 😊
Hi and thank you for tutorial! I had the written instructions from your Etsy shop. What measurements should the swatch have?
Hi there, thank you for purchasing my pattern. I hope you enjoy making it. You want the swatch to measure 4" x 4" 😊
Hi this pattern will come out the same with both sides of the scarf 🧣?
Yes, the back and the front of the stitches look the same. 😊
@@JewelsandJones thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks great pattern !!!❤
Thank you! 😊
hey, how many balls of yarn did you use? i feel like i don't have enough.
also each of my yarn are a 100 meters long.
Hi there, you can find the supply list of this pattern here: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/
Thanks a million for this great tutorial! Extremely helpful! I have done only one modification; I found that my turning points tended to be a bit bulky, marring the looks of the side containing the turning point. So, from row 3 and onwards, I omit the last chain before joining with the slip stitch. For me, the slip stitch in itself provides enough of a "chain space" for the first SC after turning. Admittedly, it is a bit tighter than the regular chain spaces, but the look of the side containing the turning point is very much improved.
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful. 😊 Thank you for the tip as well, I'm going to try it out after the third row. I know exactly what you mean when you see the chain + slip stitch on the side, so I'm curious to see if it will almost look invisible when joining.
Thank you for the quick response. Much appreciated.😊
How many skins will I need for each color
Hi there, you can find the pattern materials and instructions here: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/
I made my first scarf with this pattern!! It’s not as clean as yours but I’m really proud❤ thank you! Now to make a matching one for my husband😂
Yay!! I'm sure it turned out lovely 😊. Thank you for choosing one of my patterns to make. I hope you enjoyed crocheting it! Yes, I totally did as well. My husband and I have two matching scarfs and a beanie (he loves it though). 🤣
Do you have any recommendations for a border for this beautiful blanket? 😊
Hi there, I've always loved a simple single crochet border for this pattern since it's quite textured. But I also think a picot stitch border or a crab stitch border would look good as well. Here are the links for the tutorials: single crochet border: jewelsandjones.com/single-crochet-border-tutorial/ Picot stitch border: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-picot-stitch-border-tutorial/ Crab stitch border: jewelsandjones.com/crab-stitch-border-tutorial/ I hope that helps! Good luck😊
@@JewelsandJones you’re the best! Thank you so much! ❤️
Does the chain 3 count as a DC? You insert the hook in the first stitch and not in the second? When I do this my blanket is turning round at the sides.
Hi there, chain 3 does not count as a double crochet stitch. You want to make your double crochet in the last stitch. So you're going to place it in the last single crochet from the previous row. The last stitch can sometimes be a little hard to see, because it's almost on the outer edge. I would put a stitch marker on the last stitch (sc) and this way it's easier to see when you're making your double crochet rows. I hope this helps! 😊
Thanks for another easy to follow tutorial!! How do you keep the rows so even? I started and even after 2 rows it's more like a trapezoid shape - the 2nd and subsequent rows are wider than that first chain stitch row. :(
Thank you so much! How is your tension when you crochet? If you crochet a bit tighter, your stitches might budge a little bit. I would maybe try going up a hook size and seeing if that will help loosen up those stitches. I'm naturally a very loose crocheter, so I think that helps when making my stitches. So I would try going up a hook size, I think your rows will come out a bit more even. 😊
How many chains for a medium to large and how many rows for sleeves and how many rows do I go up from the bottom to whip stitch cause I want to make one kinda long in length
Hi there, here's the written pattern for this tutorial: jewelsandjones.com/easy-crochet-cardigan-free-pattern/ 😊
New to this want to make easy blanket 😮
I hope you enjoy making this blanket! 😊
Beautiful pattern ! Can you tell me what size hook to use if I’m using lion brand pound of love yarn for this pattern? The recommended hook on the label is 6mm.
Hi there, I would personally make a gauge swatch and see if you need to go up a hook size or go down a hook size (my gauge is listed in the pattern). Yarn weights vary so much, so I would personally make a gauge swatch. This way your blanket also turns out the same as the pattern. 😊
what do i do with those extra yarn that we cut off? Like it’s still there to i cut it shorter and tuck it in or what?
Hi there, yes, so you want to weave in the yarn on the sides of your work. Then cut the yarn when finished.
You work into the change 3 ?
Hi there, for the double crochet sections, you're going to chain 3 and work your first double crochet into the first stitch.
I have tried to follow the clip, but cannot keep up. Where do I find the printed pattern. I have what I call stroke widgets. Numbers are a bit 😮of a nightmare. Thanks for any help you can give.
Hi there, you can find the free pattern here: jewelsandjones.com/the-blanket-shrug-free-crochet-pattern/
Hello, should i chain the width of my project or the length first with this stitch?
Hi there, this all depends on what you like. I've seen crocheters work up this stitch both ways.
Thank you, I'll play around with it and see what i like 😁
May i ask you something ma'am.what if i want to add more rows on my blanket boarder.should i chain 2 and repeat the pattern?😢😢😅btw i really enjoy your tutorial.its simple and easy.❤❤❤
Hi there, thank you! To answer your question, yes you want to repeat what you did for the first round each time you make a new round.
